A Doha criminal court has fined an Egyptian expatriate QR1,000 for insulting and threatening his neighbour with a knife, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported.

The defendant was accused of knocking on the door of his neighbour, whom he never knew before, one afternoon and tried to attack him. However, the other neighbours intervened and drove him away. At the time, the defendant insulted the victim and threatened him with a knife and warned him not to talk to his wife again or approach her.

In the police investigation, the defendant justified his action by claiming he was trying to keep the neighbour away from his wife.

He claimed that the neighbour used to try to find different excuses to talk to his wife and follow her at the entrance of the building and the staircase.
