Megapolis, an entertainment centre that caters to all age groups, has opened its doors to the public.

Situated in Medina Centrale at the Pearl-Qatar, it is the "first complete family entertainment centre of its kind", according to company officials.

The 6,000sqm facility offers a wide range of games and indoor activities in addition to a number of restaurants.

Speaking to Gulf Times on Saturday, Alexander Trager, assistant general manager of operations at Megapolis, said the centre aims to provide perfect entertainment for all family members at one place.

“We have a number of places in Qatar offering different games and indoor activities. So, we thought of bringing all such facilities under one umbrella. It resulted in this concept and we have brought most of the star attractions under one roof,” he explained.

Trager stressed that the entire family could spend quality time at Megapolis, engaging in different activities. “We have various attractions such as bowling, indoor golf, darts, billiards, karaoke, flight simulators, a hi-tech gaming arcade and a dedicated action zone - all under one roof. In addition, we have a number of outlets offering delicious food, snacks, juices and beverages,” he continued.

The centre will teach golf through indoor training using simulation, he noted. "Similarly, people can learn - through the flight simulation - how to take off and land an aircraft. These are real attractions for kids and youngsters.”

There is no entry fee at Megapolis.

Trager said: “You can come in and watch the games and visit the restaurants. If you need to take part in any of the games, you need to buy a card of different denominations. This can be used in any of the gaming areas. The games start from QR15 and the most expensive game is the indoor golf at QR369.”

The official said the company might use virtual reality technology in some of the activities. “We are in discussions to provide virtual reality features in some of the games and other activities. This might be implemented in several areas, such as fighting, driving and sports activities.”

The centre, Trager said, provided a huge karaoke collection.

“We have over 60,000 titles in different languages. These include English, Arabic, French, Spanish Italian, Hindi and Chinese, among others. People can come and sing along with the karaoke and this can be used especially during parties and family or social events.

“We want to establish and develop Megapolis as a brand in Qatar. We are not competing with other entertainment facilities in the country. We may set up such centres in other places and also open Megapolis centres in other countries later,” he added.
