Aspire Academy yesterday conducted a draw that determined the groups taking part in the final round of the Aspire Football League, which will take place on 9 February 2016, coinciding with National Sport Day.
The Aspire Football League is designed to help develop young footballers who were born in 2004 and 2005, including those from the Academy and the clubs within the Qatar Football Association (QFA). It offers coaches the chance to help develop the players’ techniques during smaller matches, creating a learning environment that enables players to develop and master their dribbling, passing, shooting and other skills.
Following the draw, the 2004 Group A will consist of Al Sadd SC, Al Rayyan SC and Al Arabi SC, while the 2004 Group B will consist of Al Gharafa SC, Al Wakrah SC and Al Ahli SC. The 2005 Group A will consist of Al Sadd SC, Al Khor SC and Al Wakrah SC, while the 2005 Group B will consist of Al Ahli SC, Lekhwiya SC and Al Gharafa SC.
While the final matches will be played between the participating QFA clubs only, the ongoing league will still offer the boys from the Aspire Academy exposure to a variety of techniques, styles and playing strategies that will enrich their development. The increased exposure will help develop the boys and create a higher-level football culture.
Referees from the QFA and coaches from Aspire Academy will be on-site during the final matches. The winning teams will receive a trip to the Sealine resort at the end of the season for members of the team and staff. Matches will kick off at 9:15 at pitch 4.
Aspire Academy first opened its doors in 2004 and is considered to be one of the leading sports institutes in the Middle East. The Academy offers an integrated educational program of sports development, sports science and academic learning to boys aged 12 to 18.
