Hamad Port has seen the arrival of the first cargo ship carrying livestock. The recently inaugurated port is capable of receiving 6mn containers a year once fully operational. It will have a terminal for general goods with a capacity of 1.7mn tonnes a year, one to handle one million tonnes of grain a year, another for vehicles with a capacity for 500,000 cars a year, one for livestock, and two others for the coast guards and maritime support and guidance.
