Qatar Fuel (Woqod) has announced that it has named the multi-purpose auditorium at its Al Dafna tower after HE Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah.
This has been done to honour and respect HE al-Attiyah’s contribution to the company and the oil & gas industry in Qatar as well as his involvement in environment- and energy-related matters internationally, Woqod has said in a statement.
Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, chairman of Woqod, said: “Woqod, under the guidance of HE al-Attiyah during the period 2003-2014 as chairman, has shown tremendous growth and success, which will be sustained in the years to come.”
In recognising HE al-Attiyah’s contribution and support, Woqod’s board of directors and the executive management have decided to name the auditorium after him, the statement notes.
HE al-Attiyah, who was the Minister of Energy and Industry, played a vital role in establishing Woqod in 2002 from the erstwhile Nodco. He supported Woqod’s activities and growth through his guidance and vision and enabled it to become a leading company in the region in terms of the distribution, storage and transportation of all petroleum products and related services, including bitumen supplies and vehicle inspection for entire Qatar.
