The fireworks display at The Pearl-Qatar.

A number of recreational and educational programmes were held at The Pearl-Qatar on Friday evening as part of the Qatar National Day celebrations.

The festivities, which highlighted Qatar’s culture and heritage, took place across various locations on the island.

United Development Company, master developer of The Pearl-Qatar, organised the National Day celebrations that included events and attractions such as Al Ardha, the traditional Qatari dance that symbolises national unity and strength.

Three shows were held daily in an arena adjacent to The Pearl-Qatar’s car parking area and attracted citizens, residents of the island as well as a number of visitors from the GCC states.

As one of the gold sponsors of the celebrations, The Pearl-Qatar, in collaboration with the organising committee, has honoured it with a series of events that began on December 16 and continues until Sunday evening.
The Pearl-Qatar organised a fireworks display on the waterfront. Thousands of visitors thronged the Marsa Arabia area and the fireworks show lasted for about 15 minutes.

“Thousands rushed to The Pearl-Qatar on the event’s eve, where celebration sites began receiving visitors from within and outside Qatar since the early hours,” according to a statement, which noted that the main celebration of the evening also witnessed the arrival of a number of families and children.

Additionally, traditional tents set up at 12 Croisette in Porto Arabia attracted several visitors, especially children and women, who enjoyed henna drawing and tasted Arabic coffee and dates, the statement added. Further, the tents offered a variety of food.

Visitors also made a beeline for Karak tea at a booth in Medina Centrale. They enjoyed several complimentary cups and urged The Pearl-Qatar administration to fix a location for a tea corner throughout the year.

The photography corner also attracted a large number of guests, displaying the best moments of National Day.
