Al-Yami receives the award during a ceremony held at the Grand Hyatt Doha.

Vodafone Qatar has been named “Best Telecom Company” for the second year in a row at the Arabian Business Awards 2015 in recognition of its accomplishments over the past year.
Vodafone Qatar director of external affairs Mohamed al-Yami received the award during ceremony held at the Grand Hyatt Doha.
Ed Attwood, group editor of ITP Executive Publishing, publishers of Arabian Business, said: “Vodafone Qatar’s performance over the course of the last financial year has been very solid, underpinned by a 9% rise in subscribers and a 16% growth in revenues.
“In particular, however, our judges felt that Vodafone Qatar’s continued investment in infrastructure such as 4G and 4G+, as well as impressive increased dividends to its shareholders, ensured that it was a worthy winner, for the second year in a row, at the Arabian Business Qatar Awards 2015.”
Al-Yami said: “We are proud that once again the Arabian Business awards committee has recognised Vodafone Qatar’s achievements and efforts. There is no doubt that Vodafone Qatar in its short six-year history has changed the telecommunications landscape in Qatar bringing better value and customer service.
“As part of one of the world’s largest telecommunications companies, Vodafone is committed to bringing its global expertise and innovation to help realise the Qatar National Vision 2030.”
Only recently, Vodafone Qatar launched the world’s first luxury telecom plan, “London Edition,” an invite-only limited edition plan for both Qatar and UK numbers that is managed through a dedicated account manager, “combined with the very best experience, service, and security features.”
Also, Vodafone announced that it is the first telecom operator in Qatar and one of the first in the world to have the top speed of up to 375Mbps live on its network. This was completed after it tested and rolled out 3-band LTE Carrier Aggregation across its sites in Doha Corniche and the Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP) with other additional sites across Doha to be progressively ready by November 2015.
Following the launch of its 4G+ network in May 2015 and a nationwide network enhancement initiative with an investment of more than QR500mn, Vodafone achieved increased 3G and 4G coverage and capacity, which produced a significantly better customer experience in both voice and data services.
Vodafone Qatar also made its second dividend payment at a 24% increase on the company’s maiden dividend paid last year. On the CSR (corporate social responsibility) front, the focus is on continually giving back to the community through the Vodafone Qatar Charitable Fund.
Vodafone’s fundraising campaign, #GivingChallenge, raised a total of QR450,000. The challenge saw four Qatari youths using their social media influence to raise funds for their chosen charity.
