Doha

A Doha court has awarded a one-year suspended jail sentence to a Filipina maid for stealing her employer's jewellery, local Arabic daily Arrayah has reported.
The employer had accused the maid of stealing some of her gold earrings, rings and other accessories. Besides, she found that some other items had also disappeared, including her son's mobile phone, some vouchers and clothes.
The woman searched the handbag of the maid and found one of the missing rings in it. Besides, she saw a Facebook photograph of the maid wearing some pieces of the stolen jewellery, according to the report.
The woman reported the matter to the police, who searched the maid's belongings and found some of the stolen items hidden inside. The maid, however, denied the charges during investigation and in court.
The court established the maid's guilt based on the testimony of her employers and the findings of the police investigation. It also ordered her deportation.
