A delegation led by Minister of Transport HE Jassem Seif Ahmed al-Sulaiti will represent Qatar at the International Transport Forum (ITF) starting tomorrow in Leipzig, Germany.

At the three-day forum, a number of meetings related to the growth of the global public transport sector will be held, which will be attended by transport ministers and senior industry professionals from various parts of the world.

The ITF also includes meetings involving technical experts rendering services to the transport industry across the world.

The sessions at the conference cover such areas as environmental rules hindering the industry’s growth, safety and security regulations, information and technology, and other issues related to the requirements of the transport industry.

The main focus of the meetings, according to the organisers, is to alleviate congestion and improve individual health by reducing the intensity of energy use and CO2 emissions.

The meetings will also explore the scope to enhance new technological practices in the multiple transport sectors, including high-tech smart systems of transport, they said.
