New prosecution body is set up

HE the Attorney General Dr Ali bin Fetais al-Marri has issued a decision to establish a prosecution body to deal with environmental and municipal cases. It will be headed by a senior prosecutor and will be part of the organisational structure of the Public Prosecution.

Cables of condolences

HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani have sent cables of condolences to Afghan President Hamid Karzai on the death of First Vice-President Marshal Mohamed Qasim Fahim.

Bulgaria’s President Rosen Plevneliev arrives in Doha today on an official visit to Qatar.

 

Barshim wins men’s high-jump  gold

 Mutaz Essa Barshim celebrating after winning men’s high-jump gold at the World Indoor Athletics Championships at Sopot, Poland yesterday. The 22-year-old Barshim, who won world outdoor silver in Moscow last year and Olympic bronze in London, jumped a best of 2.38 metres. Russian Ivan Ukhov took silver on countback, with Ukraine’s Andriy Protsenko claiming bronze with a best of 2.36m.
