HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani has issued the Emiri Decree No 4 of 2014. 

After having reviewed the Constitution and the Emiri Decree No 27 of 2011 that established the Supreme Committee for Qatar 2022, and the Emiri Decree No 3 of 2014, and the Emiri Decree No 28 of 2011 which established the board of directors for the Supreme Committee for Qatar 2022, and as amended by Emiri Decree No 83 of 2011, it has been decided that:

(1) The Board of Directors is to be reformed under HH the Emir as Chairman and HH the Personal Representative of HH the Emir as Deputy Chairman, and include HE the Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior and the following as members:

a. HE Sheikh Mohamed bin Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani as the Managing Director;  b. HE the Minister of Municipality and Urban Planning; c. HE the Minister of Finance; d. HE the Minister of Youth and Sports; e. HE the Minister of Communications and Information Technology; f. HE the Minister of Development Planning and Statistics; g. HE the Minister of Transport; h. HE the president of the Qatar Football Association (QFA); 

(2) The term of membership of the board is four years with renewal for a period or similar periods. 

(3) Emiri Decree No 28 of 2011 is hereby null and void.

 

Emir chairs economic affairs panel meeting

HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani presided over the first meeting of the Supreme Council for Economic Affairs and Investment for 2014, held yesterday at the Emiri Diwan.

The meeting was attended by HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani who is also Deputy Chairman of the Council.

HE the Minister of Finance and Secretary General of the Council Ali Sherif al-Emadi said the Council discussed topics on the agenda and was briefed on the provision related to the follow-up of the Council’s previous decisions and procedures,  especially matters related to the latest developments of petrochemical industry affairs and projects of Qatar Petroleum International.

In a statement to Qatar News Agency, HE al-Emadi added that the Council was also briefed on Qatar Petroleum International’s plan of action and the investment strategy of Qatar Investment Authority, and decided to approve the budgets of the company and the authority for fiscal year 2014 and also the budget of the Council for fiscal year 2014/2015.

He said the Council was also briefed on a study on the promotion and development of the private sector.

 

Emir wishes UAE president speedy recovery

HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani has telephoned General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed al-Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to inquire after the health of the UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nahyan. 

During the telephone call, the Emir wished the president of the UAE a speedy recovery after the surgery he underwent.

The UAE president underwent a surgery after suffering a stroke and is in a stable condition, the presidential affairs minister said on Saturday.

 

National Day greetings sent

HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani  and HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani have sent cables of congratulations to Governor-General of Australia on the occasion of her country’s National Day.

 

Minister meets top UN official

HE the Minister of Justice Dr Hassan Lahdan Saqr al-Muhannadi yesterday met the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Independence of Judges and Lawyers, Gabriela Knaul and her accompanying delegation, currently visiting Qatar.
