Manila: Qatar overcame Hong Kong 87-64 to top the Group B in the Asian Basketball Championship in Manila yesterday. Qatar’s 2-0 record in the preliminary round was enough for the team to advance to the next stage in the championship.
Qatar surged ahead 32-14 in the first period and consolidated the lead to 44-30 by the half time. In the second half, Hong Kong scored 34 points while the eventual winners scored 43 points to take the victory. Jarvis Hayes top-scored for Qatar with 25 points, while Daoud Mousa netted 17.
