HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani met the First Vice-President of Sudan Ali Osman Mohamed Taha yesterday.

The Sudanese vice-president and the accompanying delegation were in Qatar to  participate in the signing ceremony of the final peace agreement between the Sudanese government and the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM), on the basis of the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur as well as the International Donor Conference for Reconstruction and Development of Darfur, currently in session in Doha.

The Heir Apparent congratulated the Sudanese vice-president on the positive outcome of the conference and the signing of the agreement between the government of Sudan and the JEM, praising the role played by all Sudanese parties to end their differences for Darfur’s peace, stability and development.

The Heir Apparent also emphasised the importance of Sudan’s stability for the Arab and Islamic nation.

Bilateral relations and ways to develop them in all fields, especially in economics and investment, as well as a number of regional and international issues of common interest were also reviewed during the meeting.
