Hamad International Airport chosen ‘World’s Best Airport’ again by Skytrax

The Hamad International Airport has again secured its position as the ‘World’s Best Airport’ by the prestigious 2024 Skytrax World Airport Awards held at the Passenger Terminal Expo 2024 in Frankfurt.The airport also clinched the title of ‘World’s Best Airport Shopping’ for the second time in a row and ‘Best Airport in the Middle East’ for the tenth consecutive year.HIA's recognition is based on “meticulous assessments” conducted by air travellers, it said in a statement. Six months of bloodshed: The toll on Gaza’s children

The bloodiest ever Gaza war which broke out over six months ago has taken an appalling toll on children. NGO Save the Children estimates that some 26,000 children have been killed or injured in the war, 17,000 have been orphaned, according to UNICEF, and 1 in 3 children under two years old in northern Gaza is suffering from acute malnutrition. In total, at least 33,207 people have been killed in the besieged Palestinian territory in Israel's retaliatory campaign for the October 7 attack, according to Hamas-run Gaza's health ministry. The unprecedented Hamas raid on southern Israel resulted in the deaths of 1,170 Israelis and foreigners, most of them civilians, according to an AFP tally based on official Israeli figures. AFP

Gazans struggle to secure flour for daily bread

QARS celebrates World Amateur Radio Day

The Qatar Amateur Radio Society (QARS) participated in the celebration of the World Amateur Radio Day, which falls on April 18 of each year.On this occasion, a special celebration was held, organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), which included a video conference meeting for a number of amateur radio societies from various countries of the world, followed by a call to four stations through the special transmitter for amateur radio broadcasting via the Qatari satellite EshailSat 2.On behalf of QARS, HE Vice-President of the Board of Directors of QARS Dr. Ahmed Hamad Al Mohannadi participated in the celebration of World Amateur Radio Day.Celebrating this occasion, the International Amateur Radio Union (IARU) decided to hold a special event with its member associations for two weeks lasting until April 25. Stations from all over the world, including a station affiliated with QARS will conduct special events and bilateral radio communications to draw attention to the HS4A campaign.The IARU, a union of more than 150 amateur radio societies in the world, announced "Human Security for All" to be the focus of the World Amateur Radio Day this year.
