Qatar’s Nasser Saleh al-Attiyah said he is feeling good ahead of his debut in the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC), having tested his Campos Racing Team Chevrolet at the Losail International Circuit yesterday.
Two-time Dakar champion will make his WTCC debut this weekend.
“It was a very good test this afternoon and a very good experience. I am quite happy as it is my first time driving a touring car but it is good for me that I am at home and I know the circuit very well,” said al-Attiyah, who has had a great year having won his second Dakar Rally title, second WRC2 title, second FIA Cross Country Rally World Cup and 11th Middle East Rally Championship.
“I think I have adapted very fast to the car and I will do my best to get a good result in my home race. The car is very good and the team is great, trying to support me to the maximum,” he said. “Many thanks also to QMMF President Mr. Nasser Khalifa al-Attiyah for giving me this chance to be here, at the finale of the WTCC.”
WTCC free practice will be tomorrow from 7pm to 10pm. The qualifying is scheduled for Friday 3pm to 4pm. The first race is scheduled for 9:30pm and the second for 10:40pm.
Entrance to the grandstand is free for all the spectators and free transportation from Doha to the circuit will be provided from select points on November 27.
