Al Sadd’s first team manager Abdullah al-Berik (right) has insisted that his side will be well prepared for the new Qatar Stars League season, which kicks off on the 11th of September.
In a wide ranging interview given to Al Sadd’s official website he touched on a number of key points relating to the 13-time Qatar Stars League Champions. His comments were given at the Wolves preseason training camp in Kaprun, Austria. “Training in Austria has always been a good omen for the side, we last came here in 2011 and at the end of the season we had won the AFC Champions League.”
Speaking about the season ahead, al-Berik was sure his side will achieve their goals. “Looking at the squad Al Sadd has we have no excuses. The mixture of youth and experience, coupled with the best national and international players gives us a fantastic chance to compete on all levels.”
Talk then turned to Xavi Hernandez, Al Sadd’s marquee signing. “Xavi is one of the most prominent midfielders in world football. He possesses a wealth of experience on the both the international and domestic stage with Barcelona and the Spanish national team. This experience will help develop the whole squad.”
The interview concluded with a few comments on Al Sadd’s Moroccan head coach Hussein Amotta. “I consider the head coach continuing with the squad for the new season as the best decision made by the management of the club. Amotta has proved himself to win titles for Al Sadd, coupled that he has also had a successful playing career with the side, he is the best candidate for the job.”
Al Sadd are set to return from their preseason training camp in Austria on the 9th of August.
