Qalco beat Doha Motors by 14 runs in the inaugural match of the 2nd Qalco Floodlit Cricket Tournament 2015, which was inaugurated by Qatar Lubricants Company (Qalco) managing director Fawad Rana in the presence of teams and managing committee members of Qatar Veterans’ League.
Qalco won the toss and elected to bat, putting 95 on board for the loss of 10 wickets in the allotted 12 overs. Ifzal scored 21 off 10 balls with two sixes, while Tharaka scored a 13-ball 19.
Inthikab added 17, while Chamath pitched in with 16. For Doha Motors, Mujeeb took two wickets, while Nawas, Vijay, Shiva, Tom and Rasheed scalped a wicket each.
In reply, Doha Motors could only manage 81 runs at the loss of nine wickets in their allotted 12 overs.
Rasheed scored 28 runs off 13 balls but with Qalco captain Shahid Iqbal taking a splendid hat-trick, it wasn’t enough. Buddika, Ifzal, Jonty, Hilmi and Tharaka took a wicket each for Qalco. Ifzal was adjudged Man of the Match.
In the other match, QVC easily defeated Al Shaqab Real Estate by 30 runs.
Riding on a 9-ball 26 by Jameel and a 15-run knock by Tahir, QVC put 113 runs on the board for the loss of 7 wickets in 12 overs.
For Al Shaqab, Amjad Mirza took two wickets, while team-mates Aatiq, Jabbar, Sadaqat, Rais and Shahbaz took a wicket each.
In reply, Al Shaqab were bundled out for 83 runs with five balls to spare. Mumtaz was the leading scorer for the team with 27 runs. Sameer, Abu Baker, Kanchana, Jameel, Sultan, Bangeera, Faisal, Ramzan and Tahir took a wicket each for QVC. Jameel of QVC was given the Man of the Match award.
