Yesterday at Al Bidda tower, the home of Qatari football, the Qatar Stars League (QSL) held a meeting with Qatar Charity representative Abdulla Abdulhadi F al-Dosari to hand over a donation in support of the stricken people of Nepal.
The cheque presentation was made by Hassan al-Kawari, Head of General Events/Acting Director of Events at the QSL.
Al-Kuwari spoke about the importance of helping others in their hour of need and that this donation is a moral act which the QSL and Qatari people in general are obliged to do as Muslims and as good human beings. He welcomed al-Dosari and said, “I am very proud to welcome Qatar Charity on this issue, the QSL is always keen to work with an organisation such as yours, especially because your work is so important and very much needed. Our recent successful Qatar Cup tournament saw a crowd of over seven thousand attend the final and so with the proceeds of the tickets sales, I am eager to give this as a donation to Qatar Charity. ”
He added, “Yes, the monetary value of the donation is important but it’s the gesture itself is more important because it shows that we always committed to helping our fellow man. Also I hope this act will encourage others to contribute and support the Nepal cause. It is part of our social responsibility and we have a long history of helping our community here in Qatar and abroad.”
He concluded by saying that there were still many places outside of Qatar that need help urgently and that he hoped to continue to help in supporting Qatar Charity as much as possible in the new Qatar Stars League season.
From his side, al-Dosari expressed his thanks for the warm welcome and the continued support of the QSL by saying, “Qatar Charity and the Qatar Stars League have a long and fruitful history of helping with good causes and we are aware that the QSL is constantly thinking about their responsibility to the local community and to people abroad and we thank you for that.”
“As I said, this is not the first initiative we have carried out together, I would like the QSL to know that this money will help and will be distributed to needy people in Nepal. There will be a strong Qatari presence in Nepal itself, with Eid Charity, Raf, the Red Crescent and Qatar Charity all there and ready to help.”
Meshaal Abdulaziz al-Emadi, the QSL Head of Corporate Sponsorship also attended the meeting, all three used the meeting as an opportunity to discuss other ideas and possible collaborations for the future before the cheque presentation ceremony itself.
Al-Kuwari concluded by saying, “The QSL is always looking for way to do more and more worthy initiatives because it is part of our corporate social responsibility and shows the power of football to help and truly change people’s lives for the better.”
