Qatar’s Al Rayyan shared a goalless draw against Oman’s Al Seeb in the first leg of the semi-finals of the Del Monte 30th GCC Club Cup at Al Seeb Stadium yesterday.
Neither team could put up a good performance as they failed to create any notable chances during the entire duration of the match.
Rayyan had qualified for the semi-finals by defeating Kuwait’s Kazma 2-1. Seeb had advanced to the final four with a 2-0 win over Kuwait’s other team Al Jahraa.
These two sides had not met before and this result means that both teams will still harbour hopes of winning the title.
Seeb tried to take advantage of the fact that they were playing at home, in front of their fans to get a positive result before they head to Doha to play the return leg but they failed to get the result they were looking for.
Rayyan meanwhile were hoping to return to Qatar with a win but they will still be satisfied with the draw and will be looking to turn the home advantage into a berth in the final.
