Holders Sevilla have been drawn at home to Fiorentina in the semi-finals of the Europa League on Friday, with Napoli meeting Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk in the other tie.
Sevilla required a late goal to see off the challenge of Zenit St Petersburg 4-3 on aggregate on Thursday as Fiorentina eased past Dynamo Kiev 3-1.
Napoli crushed Wolfsburg 6-3 on aggregate while Dnipro edged out Club Brugge 1-0 over two legs.
The draw keeps alive the chance of a first all-Italian final since 1998 when Inter Milan defeated Lazio 3-0.
The semi-final ties will be played May 7 and 14. The final in Warsaw on May 27.
Sevilla are seeking to become the first four-time winners of the UEFA Cup/Europa League having previously triumphed in 2006, 2007 and 2014.
“It will not be an easy tie at all, especially as the second leg is in Italy,” winger Aleix Vidal said. “Fiorentina are an excellent team ... It will be interesting for the fans to see Joaquin again in Seville, he was very popular when he was at (Sevilla’s city rivals) Betis.”
Fiorentina, winners of the Cup Winners’ Cup back in 1961, are targeting a first European final since 1990 when they were beaten over two legs by Juventus.
Napoli are also hoping to return to European prominence having reached their only final when winning the UEFA Cup in 1989. They will hope to build a lead over Dnipro in the first leg at home before the return in the Ukraine.
“When you reach a European semi-final it means you’re a squad of international quality and Dnipro have proven that by eliminating Olympiacos, Ajax, and Club Brugge, who were undefeated until Thursday,” coach Rafael Benitez told the Napoli website.
“Playing the first leg at home doesn’t change much for us, we saw that against Dinamo Moscow (in the round of 16).”
Unlike the others left in the competition, Dnipro are at this stage for the first time in their history with the European Cup quarter-finals previously being their best achievement in continental competition.
They have progressed this far despite playing home games in Kiev due to the political situation in Ukraine.
