An impressive Torrington Cox was not enough to salvage the Qatar Cup match against Al Gharafa as Qatar Sports Club went down 100-73 at Al Gharafa Sports Club yesterday.
Cox was not only the top-scorer of the match with 28 points, he also had 13 rebounds against his name at the end of the match.
When it all began, Qatar SC looked in control with a 13-7 lead after the first five minutes. Cox’s team had a four-point advantage after the first quarter but from thereon, Gharafa looked increasingly menacing right till they posted a victory with a 27-point margin.
Samuel Monroe Jr. and Emmanuel Adako did the bulk of the scoring for Gharafa with the former scoring 23 points and the latter 22.
Monroe Jr., besides having six two-pointers, three three-pointers and two free-throws against his name, also notched up a team-high nine defensive rebounds.
