Saad Abdulrahman Ali and Rashad Woods propelled Al Sadd to a massive 99-54 win over Al Shamal in the Qatar Basketball League playoff match at Al Gharafa Sports Club yesterday.
The duo together hauled 56 points, two more than Shamal’s score, to lead Sadd to a memorable victory.
Shamal looked in doldrums right from the beginning when their opponents surged to a 14-1 lead which only kept increasing to the final 45-point margin.
Ali came up with a match-leading 30-point effort, which included four two-pointers, six three-pointers and a four free-throws.
Woods was impressive from under the basket notching up nine two-pointers, a three-pointer and five free-throws.
Ali and Woods also notched up seven and four rebounds respectively.
Others in the Sadd team to get into double figures included Tyrone Anderson (12 points), Erfan Ali Saeed (11 points) and Yassin Mahdy (10 points).
For Shamal, Vincent Hunter II managed a team-high effort of 19 points, while Malcolm White was the only other Shamal player to get into double figures with 10 points.
Hunter had five two-pointers, one three-pointer and six free-throws to his name.
White was impressive in the rebound department with 10 of them.
The playoffs are back in action tomorrow with Al Gharafa facing Al Rayyan in the early match at 5pm, while Sadd will take on El Jaish in the 7pm tie.
