The Czech Republic’s Lucie Safarova is banging at the door of an otherwise unchanged top ten in yesterday’s WTA rankings thanks to her win in the Qatar Total Open.
The 28-year-old jumped four places after beating Belarus’ Victoria Azarenka in Qatar on Saturday. She is now placed at a career-best 11th with 2,995 points.
The list continues to be dominated by Serena Williams, leading the pack in front of Russia’s Maria Sharapova and Romania’s Simona Halep.
Williams has 9,592 points for a comfortable advantage of 1,377 over Sharapova.
Halep, who returned to the top three last week, retains her position ahead of Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic.
