Juventus and Napoli teams are set to arrive in Doha on December 19 for their 2014 Italian Super Cup match, the Organising Committee announced yesterday.
The committee also outlined the final operational arrangements for the match, which is set to kick off at 8:30pm on Monday, December 22, at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium (Al Sadd Sports Club).
The match between Copa Italia champions Napoli and Serie A winners Juventus will see two of the most exciting rosters in the world clash for bragging rights.
The Organising Committee announced that tickets are selling fast and fans from all over the world will arrive in Doha in the upcoming days to be part of this amazing experience. To date, a total of 11,720 tickets have been sold on the Qatar Football Association’s (QFA) website as well as in the ticket booth located in Villaggio Mall.
Numerous promotional activities have been organised for football lovers. Visiting and resident fans will be introduced to the authentic Italian culture at fanzones, which will be organised with the help of Katara Cultural Village and the Italian Embassy in Qatar.
With a week to go, the Organising Committee also announced that a number of social media competitions will take place on QFA’s social media platforms to build up excitement in the run up to the match.
Organising Committee vice president Khalid al-Kuwari said: “We are proud to host this major event, which reinforces our commitment and ability to successfully hosting international sporting events. We are constantly committed to delivering a unique and inspiring experience for all the fans attending the Italian Super Cup. Demand for the tickets is set to remain high and we are happy to witness the fans’ excitement building up ahead of the match next week.”
As for the official hotels of the match, the committee announced that the official media hotel is the Millennium Hotel, while the Serie A delegation will be in La Cigale Hotel. Juventus and Napoli teams will be put up in Grand Heritage and Torch Hotels respectively.
Al-Kuwari added: “We have allocated 138 spectator services personnel to assist the fans, 52 parking ushers, 25 VIP ushers, and 30 volunteers for the media. The stadium media centre, press conference room, and media lounge will be located in Al Sadd Multipurpose Hall. We advise the fans to arrive early. The stadium gates will open at 4pm while the fanzone will open its doors to the fans at 3pm.”
The training grounds for both teams are the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium (Al Sadd Sports Club), Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium (Lekhwiya Sports Club) and Aspire Academy football pitches. The official training sessions for the match will be held at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium (Al Sadd Stadium) on December 21, 2014.
