Lekhwiya scored an easy 3-1 win over Qatar SC in the Qatar Stars League yesterday. Ismaeel Mohammad scored a brace and V Weiss once for Lekhwiya, while Harbaour struck a lone goal for Qatar SC.


Fans get a glimpse of Italian Super Cup trophy

The Italian Super Cup trophy made a stop at Villaggio Mall this weekend, giving hundreds of fans the opportunity to see it up close over the period of two days. Amongst the numerous spectators, the official Juventus Doha Fan Club was also present and had a chance to take photos and touch the iconic trophy.
Ahmed Al Sayid, a member of the official Juventus Doha Fan Club commented: “We thank the Qatar Football Association (QFA) for organising the trophy tour and making it possible for us as well as hundreds of other fans to take memorable pictures with the trophy. We are excited to see our favourite team in Doha next week and extend our thanks to QFA for organising this match which gives us the opportunity to see the football stars of Juventus.”
The trophy made its first stop at Aspire Academy last week during the first press conference of the Italian Super Cup 2014 The trophy will be making its next stop today at the Qatar Foundation Official Opening of the Awsaj Recreation.
The excitement of the trophy tour resonated on social media where fans used the dedicated hashtag of the match #SuperCoppaQatar. The 2014 Italian Super Cup will be the 27th edition of the prestigious football competition, which will be played at the Hamad Bin Jassim Stadium on December 22nd in Doha.  The match will played between the 2013–14 Serie A champions, Juventus, and the winners of the 2013–14 Coppa Italia, Napoli.
Juventus will be making a record 10th appearance, seventh Super Cup title and third straight win. On the other hand, both of Napoli’s prior appearances have been against Juventus, beating them 5-1 in 1990 but losing 2-4 in extra time in 2012.
This will be the seventh time that the Super Cup has been played abroad and the first time in Qatar and Italian fans and officials will get an opportunity to see the country from close quarters during the match. Some of the earlier editions of the Super Cup which were not held in Italy were in Washington, DC in 1993, in Tripoli, Libya in 2002, New Jersey in 2003 and Beijing on three occasions - 2009, 2011 and 2012.
The Serie A official said QFA has been supporting some of the charitable initiatives of the Italian league for the last couple of years. There will be two ticket categories offered for fans, Grade A, worth Q.R 300 and Grade B worth Q.R 200.  The tickets can be bought on Qatar Football Association’s website www.qfa.com.qa.
