Al Rayyan and Al Gharafa registered victories on the third day of the Qatar Basketball League at the Gharafa Indoor Hall yesterday.
Rayyan defeated Qatar Sports Club 88-77 in a keenly fought match for a winning start in the league, while Gharafa defeated Al Ahli 91-72 for its second win.
Dominic Davon with 30 points emerged as the highest scorer for Rayyan, while O’Brein Winder scored 28 for Qatar Sports Club.
Davon connected 13-of-18 shots as Rayyan stretched the lead to 51-41 at the half-time after leading  28-21in the first quarter and maintained the margin in the third quarter. James Henderson and Malek Salim scored 18 and 12 points for the winners.
In the second match of the day Gharafa overcame Ahli easily as Samuel Monroe Jr led the way with 33 points. The other notable contribution came from Osaro Adako with 21 points.
Consteveous Jefferson scored 24 points for Ahli, while Omar Ahmad also chipped in with 16 points.
