Afghanistan continued their winning ways with a comprehensive eight-wicket win over plucky Kuwait on Day 3 of the ACC U-16 Elite Cup in Doha on Friday.

Kuwait’s top order, facing pace bowling quicker than anything they’ve ever faced before, acquitted themselves well initially before succumbing to the wiles of spinner Abdul Wasi who took 7-13.

Earlier in the morning match, Hong Kong and Qatar enjoyed a much more even battle, with Qatar at one time looking to overhaul Hong Kong’s 220 with an opening partnership of 91. But it’s not how well you start, it’s how well you finish.

Qatar’s last five batsmen undid the good work of their teammates and perhaps even more, by deciding en masse not to bat when their turn came. The Qatar innings had to be declared closed at 128 in the 33rd over.
