Aspire Zone Foundation yesterday congratulated the Qatar youth team for their historic win in Myanmar. Qatar won the Asian Youth Cup beating North Korea 1-0 in the final on Wednesday.

Khalid Abdulla al-Sulaiteen described his overwhelming joy saying: “My joy today is double. First is that I share the aspirations of Qatari people, especially those interested in sport and particularly fans of football, and second is that mixture of feelings of affection and pride for the players who have graduated from Aspire Academy.

“This is a new demonstration of the enlightened vision of our wise leadership that preceded the time putting in place the Sports City project (Aspire Zone) in 2003, and the establishment of the academy in 2004, and put all the potential to invest in human capital. I am proud that we are yielding today the fruits of what we sowed 10 years ago.”

“This achievement did not happen by accident; it is a combination of the efforts of different state institutions who have laboured hard to build these heroes. The little talents have today become stars. More importantly, it is not limited to football only but to many other sporting disciplines, especially athletics and squash.”

He also noted that “AZF and its member organizations seek always to apply the scientific approach in the development of the players. He also praised Aspire on its “different areas of competence, and for using the latest technology, which has led to accomplishing AZF’s vision in becoming the reference for sports excellence worldwide.”
