Sheail bin Khalifa al-Kuwari owned Akbar Des Vialettes (Stephen Ladjadj up) clinched the Pure Arabian Maiden Plate with a dazzling display during the Maiden Day race meeting held at the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club yesterday. The Akbar progeny set his own pace for the ten furlong journey and kicked clear in the straight to record his first win in two starts. Akbar Des Vialettes has a potential to rise in the ranks pretty quickly.
Yousef Bentaher trained Al Naif Buckpasser shed his maiden status with an authoritative win in the Local Thoroughbred Maiden Plate. Jockey Marvin Suerland had the Yousef trainee race a handy second and when the four-year-old colt was alerted to the task on hand, he stretched away to win drawing away from the pack.
Katara IV finished with a late dash to take the runner-up berth ahead of Flintstone and Gaza VI.Mohanad al-Yaqout saddled Half Turn scored his first victory with a dazzling start to finish victory in the Thoroughbred Maiden Plate. Man Amongst Men and Urban Dreamer were a close second and third respectively.
Al Majd Stud’s Cappuccino Delight held on gamely from a fast finishing Secretly to win the Thoroughbred Maiden Plate for Fillies and Mares. Dubai based jockey Harry Bentley recorded second victory of the season with a power packed finish. Secretly has the potential to enter the winner’s enclosure when saddle next.
Mubarak Saeed Aljafai Al Naimi owned Goldenrod (Alberto Sanna up) was another impressive winner of the day. The Mohammed al-Kuwari schooled three-year-old bay gelding was taken to the front and he made every post a winning one while romping home to a comfortable victory in the Thoroughbred Maiden Plate. There was a keen tussle for the minor placing’s. Pure Amber beat Three Cliffs by a half a Length, while Margzog was a close fourth.
