After Mutaz Essa Barshim became the second highest jumper of all time by clearing 2.43m at the IAAF Diamond League’s final event in Brussels last week, the Qatari has become the focus of a social media sensation. His performance in Brussels may have been just short of the 21-year-old record of 2.45m by Cuba’s Javier Sotomayor, but the 23-year-old has been the focus of a Twitter hastag ‘#ThingsBarshimCouldJumpOver’. USA Track & Field Entertainment Properties director Adam Schmenk began using edited images of Barshim jumping over a basketball net and a football goalpost, objects that are roughly the height of his jump. Barshim joined the fun retweeting a number of similar images from various users, including the above picture with the caption: Be #creative be #funny #be #brilliant #ThingsBarshimCouldJumpOver Another one I like with the champ @FloydMayweather
