Osaila gallops to victory in the Princess Margaret Juddmonte Stakes at Ascot.

Osaila provided another success for Al Shaqab Racing when it won the Princess Margaret Juddmonte Stakes (Gr3) at Ascot.

This was also another two-year-old Group success for Al Shaqab Racing, after the victory of The Wow Signal in the Coventry Stakes (Gr2) at Royal Ascot. Osaila came into Ascot after an easy success in the Novice Stakes at Doncaster, after a sixth place in the Albany Stakes (Gr3) on her second start. She was the easy winner by two lengths from Pastoral Girl (Pastoral Pursuits) with another length and a half back to Explosive Lady (Alfred Nobel).

After sitting in last position, Osaila passed the entire field to win comfortably, despite hanging left, and looked every inch of a future Group 1 winner.

The future looks bright for Osaila, who has different Group 1 options including the Darley Prix Morny and the Cheveley Park Stakes over 1,200m, or the Moyglare Stud Stakes over 1,400m. The latter option looks the most likely.

Osaila trainer Richard Hannon said: “I’ve put her in the Morny (at Deauville) and she’s in the Cheveley Park (at Newmarket), but it looked to me that seven (furlongs) would suit her. I’d like to think she’s a Guineas filly for next year.”

Jockey Frankie Dettori, who piloted Osaila said: “She won nine days ago but she had no race. It wasn’t the plan to be that far back. I was doubting myself at the three-furlong marker as she wasn’t travelling as usual, but she came good. There are stacks of races for her in the future.”

Osaila is well bred and she was bought by Al Shaqab Racing at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sales.
