Doha Cricket Club’s Hafiz Tanveer receives the Man of the Match award from the officials.

Wings Doha and Ramaco joined Elite Force Choudhary and Al Feroz in the semi-finals of the West End Park Ramadan Tournament at the West End Park Stadium.

The tournament is being held under the patronage of Qatar Olympic Committee secretary general HE Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman al-Thani.

In the first match of the day, Wings Doha won the toss and elected to bat first, posting 157 for 7 on board. Sri Lankan international Dilhara Lokuhettige was joined by West Indian international Ryan Hinds in the team. Lokuhettige scored 37 and was ably supported by Azim who added 30 to the score. Ramaco bowlers Omran scalped three wickets, while Noman took one.

In reply, Ramaco could manage to put only 84 runs on the board and tumbled out of the tournament. Farukh (31) was the leading scorer for Ramaco. For the eventual winners, Naveed and Zaid Ustad took two wickets each.

Having added 23 runs to his team’s batting effort apart from the two wickets, Ustad was adjudged Man of the Match.

In the second match, Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first, but only managed to put 100 runs on board. While Halim and Rashid hit 22 runs each, Doha bowlers Kamran, Awais and Hafiz Tanveer combined well and took two wickets each.

In reply, Doha CC overhauled the target with over four overs to spare and eight wickets in hand. Hafiz Tanveer scored 54, while Mansoor pitched in with 21 runs.

Tanveer was presented the Man of the Match award for an impressive all-around performance.

In the semi-final, Elite Force Choudhary will take on Doha CC, while Al Feroz will face off with Wings Doha CC.

The final is to be held today, with the winners set to get QR 50,000 in prize money and the runners-up QR 25,000.
