Al Hanzab beat Bangladesh Cricket Club by 31 runs while Rawal County Cricket Club scored a six-wicket win over Commercial Bank CC at the West End Park Ramadan cricket tournament at the West End Park Stadium.
Al Hanzab won the toss and elected to bat and put on a healthy 140 all out in the stipulated 20 overs. Man of the Match Ishtiaq scored 54 runs and was ably supported by Amjad, who contributed 34. For Bangladesh, Rony and Sagar scalped one wicket apiece.
In reply, Bangladesh could only make 109 and were all out in 18.3 overs. A. Halim (30) and Sagar (17) were the pick of the batsmen. Javed and Awais both took three wickets each to seal a commendable victory from Al-Hanzab.
In the second match, Commercial Bank chose to bat after winning the toss. Habib (69 runs) and Darmang (32) helped CBQ reach a mammoth 192 for 6 in 20 overs. Israr and Bilal took two wickets each for Rawal County Cricket Club.
However, CBQ’s scored was chased down by Rawal County, who achieved the target in 19.1 overs. Naeem hit an impressive 57, while Adil made 42. Sajjad and Ali took two wickets each for CBQ.
The matches are currently in the group stages which are conducted in a round robin format.
There are 2 groups of 6 teams, 8 teams will qualify to the quarter-final stages held from Monday 21st July, 2014.
