Doha Cricket Club’s Khuram receives his Man of the Match award.

Doha Cricket Club posted a huge 82-run win over Rawal County riding on an impressive half-century by Khuram in the West End Park Ramadan Tournament at the West End Park on Wednesday evening.

The tournament is being held under the patronage of Qatar Olympic Committee secretary general HE Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman al-Thani.

Doha CC won the toss and chose to bat and posted 170 for 5 in the allotted 20 overs. Khuram hit 59 runs and was ably supported by Mudassar, who scored 48 runs. Jameel was the pick of the Rawal County bowlers taking two wickets. Bilal scalped one.

Rawal County never looked in charge of their innings and were bundled out for 88 in 16.3 overs. Israr was the top-scorer for Rawal County with 23 runs.

For the winners, Awais took three wickets, Ali pitched in with two wickets, while Khuram claimed a wicket.

Khuram was adjudged Man of the Match for his all-round performance.

West End Park head of Sport Michael Scallon said: “This was an entertaining match and Doha CC acquitted themselves very well. The squad has some impressive overseas players in addition to the local talent. There is still a long way to go in the competition and I wish both teams the best of luck in their coming matches. The West End Park Ramadan Tournament will see 12 teams play for the winners’ prize of QR 50,000. The runners-up are set to get QR 25,000. Each team is allowed four overseas players.

There are two groups of six teams each, with eight teams qualifying to the quarter-final stages, which begin on Monday, July 21.

Matches begin daily at 8pm and entry is free for the public.
