The tournament is being held under the patronage of QOC secretary general HE Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman al-Thani.

In the other match of the day, West End Park Challenge Cup champions Galfar Cricket Club posted a two-wicket victory of Al Hanzab to kickstart their campaign on a high.

For the Challenge Cup runners-up, Chamara scalped four wickets while Mihira claimed two to try and halt the flow of runs but in vain.

Master CC faced a step up in competition at the Ramadan Tournament and were halted at 134 for 8 in the stipulated 20 overs. Lahiru (37) and Manjula (24) were the main contributors but couldn’t take Master past the target.

For his efforts with the bat, Waleed was adjudged Man of the Match.

In the second match of the day, Al Hanzab won the toss and elected to bat, putting up a target of 141 for 9 in 20 overs. Even as Waqas (75) and Amjad (26) showed flair with the bat, Galfar’s Aravinda was in fine form with the ball taking five wickets. Nuwan pitched in with two wickets.

Saman, with his 45-run knock, ensured that Galfar were always in the hunt. Asran chipped in with 26 runs as Galfar overhauled the target with two balls to spare. Galfar posted 144 for eight for a two-wicket win.
