Colombia’s Jackson Martinez  scores the 1-2 during the FIFA World Cup 2014 group C preliminary round match between Japan and Colombia at the Arena Pantanal in Cuiaba, Brazil, yesterday.

Colombia beat Japan 4-1 in their final Group C match yesterday and will play Uruguay in the knockout stages of the World Cup.

Juan Cuadrado successfully converted a penalty in the 17th minute after Yasuyuki Konno downed Adrian Ramos in the box to make it 1-0.

Shinji Okazaki equalised for Japan just before the half-time whistle, converting a cross from Keisuke Honda into the box with a diving header.

Porto striker Jackson Martinez rifled in Colombia’s second goal low to the left of Eiji Kawashima after a cross inside the box from James Rodriguez. Rodriguez set up Martinez again in the 83rd minute and scored the fourth goal in the last minute of the game.

In the  other Group C match, played the Castelao arena in Fortaleza yesterday,  a  stoppage time penalty from Giorgios Samaras sent Greece into
the last 16 of the World Cup for the first time with a dramatic 2-1 victory over Ivory Coast.
