The Qatari karate team won the West Asia Karate championship in Jeddah yesterday.

The competition was held for three days. 

More than 100 players from 10 countries — Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Oman, UAE, Yemen, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine and Iraq — participated in the event, which was held in Kata and Kumite category.

Qatar won its first gold medal in the Kata competition, when Adham Abdul-Nasser Hashem emerged triumphant, while silver was won by Qassem Qoedal for the Kumite under-67 kg. 

Secretary General of Qatar Karate Federation (QKF) Eid Ali al-Muraikhi expressed his satisfaction with the Qatari teams performance in the competition. He added that there were a number of highly ranked players participating, which made the competition much stronger.
