Repsol Honda’s Spanish rider Dani Pedrosa (right) underwent a check-up in Barcelona on Monday to assess the recovery from a surgery on his right arm. Pedrosa, who finished fourth in the race in Mugello on Sunday, had a surgery for arm pump conditions in Barcelona’s Hospital Universitario Quirón Dexeus on May 6.

The rider has been working to recover from the condition over the last one month, and has since not featured on the podium — in Le Mans and Mugello. Pedrosa had finished on the podium in eight straight races, dating back to his victory in Malaysia last October to his third-place finish in Jerez on May 4.

Following his latest check-up, doctors recommended continued rest and specific treatment in order for him to be in the best possible condition for his home race at Catalunya in less than a fortnight’s time, according to MotoGP.com.

Pedrosa’s right forearm was seen to still be swollen from the surgery on Monday, due to the lack of rest since the operation.

“We need to use every hour of every day in the best possible way,” said Pedrosa in his latest blog update. “It was painful at Mugello, the race felt long as the track is demanding with so many changes in direction, so fourth was not a bad result considering. Seeing the battle that (Marc) Marquez and (Jorge) Lorenzo had, firstly I have to congratulate them but I want to be back at 100% so that I can join in the fight for victory. At Montmelo we will push to be up there.”
