Pupils from Mesaieed International School recently became young ambassadors for the 2022 FIFA World Cup QatarTM via an exciting educational opportunity provided by the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy.
The Supreme Committee teamed up with the Qatar Stars League GOALZ programme to provide a unique and alternative educational experience for its participating schools through visits to the Legacy Pavilion, near Aspire Zone.
Pupils that have been fortunate enough to participate in these trips have witnessed the breathtaking presentations and displays which played a pivotal role in Qatar winning the bid to host the FIFA World Cup.
The Legacy Pavilion was purpose built to provide an experiential excursion to showcase Qatar’s capabilities for the FIFA Technical Inspectors’ visit in September 2010. The structure of the pavilion includes four main plazas; the welcome tent, the connecting plaza, the legacy hall and the World of Football theatre.
In total, 115 students from Mesaieed International School took part in the Legacy Pavilion visits.
Pupils have gained knowledge on the history of Qatar and also what the future holds in terms of the infrastructure of transport and the state-of-the-art stadiums that will be built.
Up to now, International School of London Qatar, Gulf English School and now Mesaieed International have taken advantage of the initiative provided by the Supreme Committee to the QSL GOALZ schools.
Hani Ballan, Deputy CEO of the Qatar Stars League, said: “We are delighted that we’ve been able to work in partnership with the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy to educate young football fans on what the future holds for football in Qatar.
The experience of these visits is truly inspiring for the young children and I’m proud of the role that the QSL has played in making this happen.”
Nasser al-Khater, Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy’s Executive Director for Marketing & Communications, also commented:
“A visit to our Legacy Pavilion is an excellent way to educate people of all ages on our vision for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and on how our country is fulfilling the Qatar National Vision 2030.”
“We are delighted to host these enthusiastic young participants in the QSL GOALZ programme. They are the new generation of football fans that will be filling the stadiums in 2022.
“We have always believed that the World Cup belongs to the youth of Qatar and our region and we hope they will continue to be our ambassadors as we undertake this great project over the next 8 years.”
