The Qatar Football Association (QFA) yesterday signed an agreement with Sout Al Khaleej radio station to become the “Official Radio Station of HH Emir Cup 2014”.
The signing ceremony took place in Al Bidda tower between QFA acting COO Khalid al-Kuwari and  Sout Al Khaleej head of Sports Rashid Abdullah al-Mohannadi.
The nature of the agreement involves utilising the station by promoting all the Emir Cup matches, and related events.
Sout Al Khaleej will strongly support the Emir Cup throughout the tournament by holding different competitions on the radio, and in the stadia.
A special programme called “Agla Al Ko’oos” which translates to “Most Precious Cup” has been produced to promote the news and events of the tournament, including a competition wherein listeners, who text the correct answer, will enter a draw in which one winner will be announced towards the end of the tournament.
On the day of the final at Khalifa International Stadium, Sout Al Khaleej reporters will visit the fanzone to run different competitions and winners will win a coupon on the spot.
Another promotional approach that Sout Al Khaleej is using this year is releasing a song about the Emir Cup. The song will be performed on the radio by popular Qatari singer Fahad al-Kubaisy, and composed by the renowned composer Abdullah al-Mannai.
A total of 100,000 Qatari Riyals worth of prizes are allocated to the competition winners.
Khalid al-Kuwari said: “We are delighted to partner with Sout Al Khaleej and announce them as the Official Radio Station of this prestigious tournament. This is another example of QFA’s commitment in promoting the Emir Cup heavily.”
He added: “This has been a long term relationship and dates back to the 17th Gulf Cup. Sout Al Khaleej plays a very important role in promoting QFA activities and events. We are looking forward to working with Sout Al Khaleej again this year. We thank them for the heavy promotional campaign it’s executing this year and hope to continue working with them on other tournaments.”
Rashid Abdullah al-Mohannadi said: “We are extremely proud to co-operate with QFA again this year for the 42nd edition of Emir Cup to deliver the news and announcements to the fans, and are confident that this partnership will equally benefit both parties by adding more value to the football culture in Qatar. We appreciate the opportunity given by QFA to be the official radio station of the Emir Cup 2014 and hope for a successful co-operation.”
