The Qatar team, which won the West Asia Table Tennis Junior Championship in Amman, Jordan on Sunday, were accorded a rousing welcome by the Qatar Table Tennis Federation officials on their arrival in Doha. The triumph qualified Qatar for the Asian Junior Table Tennis to be held in India in September. The Qatar squad included Mohammad Khamis al-Sulaiti, Abdulrahman Mohsen al-Najar, Jassim Ahmad al-Sanadi and Abdulaziz Jassim al-Abdullah. In the final league match, Qatar beat Kuwait 3-1 to clinch the title to finish with 5 victories and just a one loss. Bahrain and host nation Jordan won the silver and bronze respectively. Saudi Arabia came fourth while Kuwait settled for fifth.
