Qatar Football Association (QFA) and world leading specialised orthopaedic and sports medicine hospital Aspetar yesterday signed a service agreement for the provision of medical treatment and services to the participating teams of Qatar Amateur League (QAL) throughout the period of the league.

The objective of the agreement is to promote the wide-spectrum approach Aspetar will implement to provide high standard of medical care, and treatment to the players at the amateur level.

Commenting on the occasion, QFA president Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed al-Thani, said: “The appointment of Aspetar is an important milestone for QFA and we are honoured to sign an agreement that aims to provide excellent medical care for our amateur players. Our partnership with Aspetar is a demonstration of our commitment to grant our QAL players with access to excellent medical care, treatment and rehabilitation that is offered by renowned physicians.”

He added: “Aspetar offers unique medical care and treatment in which we are certain will be of extreme benefit to the teams participating in this significant league.”

Aspetar director general Dr Khalifa Jeham al-Kuwari said, “We are delighted to be partnering with the Qatar Football Amateur League for the upcoming 2014-2015 season. Part of Aspetar’s mandate is to help athletes achieve their full potential, and this includes all athletes in Qatar – no matter the sport, level, gender or age.”

He added: “Another key feature of this agreement is that it reflects a joint mission of encouraging participation in sport at a grassroots level in Qatar in the lead-up to the FIFA World Cup 2022.”

QAL, a league for the community that brings together 14 teams, kicked-off in November, 2013 and will run until the end of the football season. The league takes place across seven different venues, including Estad Al-Doha, Al Wakrah Stadium, Al Arabi Stadium, Qatar Sports Club, Al Khor Stadium, Al Gharafa Stadium, and Al Sadd Stadium.
