Al Gharafa beat Al Shamal 92-76 in the Emir Cup basketball yesterday. Playing at the Al Gharafa Sports Club, the home side led only by three points after the first quarter but then increased their lead to 12 points by the end of the second quarter and then were able to comfortably stay ahead. Blair Thomas and Monroe Samuel Jr were joint top scorers for Al Gharafa with 25 points each. For Al Shamal Tyvon Williams scored 23 points but there wasn’t a lot of support from his teammates. |
In the other match yesterday, Al Rayyan defeated Al Ahli 82-74. It was tough third quarter for Al Rayyan where they saw Al Ahli reduce the deficit to just two points. But Al Rayyan players put in a strong performance in the last five minutes of the fourth quarter scoring 13 points, to wrap up victory. Jones Lamont Desean was the top scorer for Al Rayyan with 28 points. For Al Ahli Abdullah Bilal lead the charts with 21 points.
