After a one-month winter break, the Qatar Stars League Nations Cup is back with plenty of great fixtures to look forward to as the competition heats up.

With 16 teams left in the competition and representing countries from all across the world this event clearly reflects the cultural diversity of Doha.

This year the tournament started out with 24 nationality-based teams all competing to be crowned champions, and collect the 15,000 QAR first prize.

After the group stages, the teams have now been whittled down to the following: England, Romania, Pakistan, Syria, Portugal, Algeria, Somalia, Chad, Afghanistan, Spain, France, Tunisia, Italy, Jordan, Ethiopia and Egypt.

The quarter-final stage will commence today at the Al Rayyan Sports Complex.

Group E runners up Spain have a tough task ahead of them as they take on Group F’s unbeaten winners France with kick-off at 10am.

In the afternoon, Italia will take on Group B leaders Pakistan as they look to improve on their group stage performances.

Shortly afterwards, the two Arab nations of Tunisia and Syria will go head to head, followed by an all-African affair between Somalia and Ethiopia.

At 8pm, Chad will take on the Afghans, before Portugal takes on Jordan in the final match of the day.

The second day of the weekend’s action will start with Egypt, who finished third in their group, taking on England who dominated Group A. The last game to be played tomorrow will be at 21:00 and will see Group A runners up Romania take on Group C’s second placed finishers Algeria.
