Hyatt Plaza Shopping Mall yesterday hosted Qatar’s National Day celebrations as part of the second Hawiyati festival.
HE Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad al-Thani inaugurated the festival. A cultural village has been built at the venue to promote Qatar’s identity. Events and activities include stage shows, traditional exhibitions and live arts.
The event is commemorating the Qatari culture through a wide variety of activities focusing on the rich heritage and traditions of the country.
Hyatt Plaza Shopping Mall general manager Feroz Moideen said the objective is to portray the essence of Qatar and promote its values through the family focused event, which has an eclectic mix of activities that help visitors to discover the heritage and learn about the culture through four different sections.
Khalid Bin Ahmad Independent School, Royal International School, Birla Public School, Jordanian School, IBLA International School, Oscar Academy and Philippine International School Qatar will showcase diverse cultural shows on the stage throughout the week.
Amal al-Shammari, founder and chairman of Embrace Doha, a consultancy company, said, “We are putting our efforts along with Hyatt Plaza to introduce the local culture and traditions to tourists and residents.’’
The festival is taking place at the outdoor area of the food court from 5pm, and it would last until December 18.
