A temporary diversion will be in place for about 6 months starting from Tuesday (December 1) on a section of Al Jamiliya road which is part of Al Sheehaniya Express Way project.
The diversion is for approximately 2km on both directions. During the period, the traffic through the area will be diverted to a new temporary road adjacent to the closed road (as shown on the attached map).
The diversion is being effected to allow the construction of a new dual carriageway with two lanes on both direction. The new road which is part of Al Jamiliya- Al-Atooriya -Al Sheehaniya road will provide permanent features, including a permanent roundabout, a median, besides pedestrian and cycle pathways.
The construction aims to enhance the traffic capacity and road safety in the area. The project includes a wide range of works to develop the area’s infrastructure, which consists of installing intelligent transport systems in addition to a comprehensive drainage system.
