The Ras Laffan Industrial City (RLIC) Community Outreach Programme, in line with its corporate social responsibility initiatives, has partnered with Toastmasters International Qatar to provide leadership and communication workshops for Qatari students in northern Qatar (Al Khor and neighbouring areas).
The workshops will help develop and train future public speakers and empower members of local communities to be effective speakers, community leaders and fast thinkers.
The workshop sessions will be conducted by Toastmaster officials, teaching the youth how to enhance their communication skills and leadership qualities to give them the confidence to speak before an audience and be better communicators and leaders in their day-to-day life.
One of the main objectives of the programme is to train and coach the participants on how to start their own gavel clubs for girls and boys as well as for adults, so as to encourage participation by a diverse group of individuals.
Toastmasters International Qatar has adopted Abdullah Bin Ali Al Misnad School, Independent Secondary School for Boys and Al Khor Independent Secondary School for Girls, all of which have given their complete support to successfully implement these workshops in their facilities.
The workshops will conclude with a Grand Finale, wherein the students will present their newly honed skills in front of their parents and teachers.
In addition, world champion of public speaking 2015 Mohamed Qahtani from Saudi Arabia, first runner-up Aditya Maheshwaran of India and champion speaker of the Middle East in the humorous and international category, Mohamed al-Eisa, will be invited to motivate the youth and present their winning speeches.
The programme will also include special communication and leadership workshops designed to meet the needs of teachers who will also be trained on how to further improve their capabilities as they assist students in their academic journey.
