Doha

A Doha court has ordered a company to pay QR200,000 as blood money to the kin of an employee who had drowned while cleaning a swimming pool, local Arabic daily Arrayah has reported.

Relatives of the deceased had filed a case against the firm, which provides various services, after their pleas for compensation with the company did not yield the desired results.

The court upheld the rights of the relatives after going through reports pertaining to the incident and the testimony of the victim's co-workers.

A colleague of the worker testified that the latter was cleaning a swimming pool when he drowned in it due to some technical flaws. Forensic evidence confirmed that the worker was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs, which meant the death occurred due to work.
