SPE Qatar board members after the meeting.

Qatar Shell hosted the third board meeting for the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Qatar chapter, chaired by Sheikh Faisal bin Fahad al-Thani, at its Doha headquarters.
SPE Qatar’s mission is to collect, disseminate and exchange technical knowledge concerning the exploration, development and production of oil and gas resources and related technologies for the public’s benefit. It also seeks to provide opportunities for professionals to enhance their technical and professional competence.
“At Shell, we are proud of our commitment to the SPE Qatar and the value it brings to our engineers. This is a great opportunity for industry experts to meet in order to share knowledge and best practices while developing SPE Qatar plans,” Rob Sherwin, general manager of corporate affairs and deputy country chair at Qatar Shell, said.
As a demonstration of its long-term commitment, Qatar Shell has signed a three-year sponsorship with the SPE Qatar to support special activities and events organised by the latter.
During the board meeting, SPE Qatar strategic plans and a 2016 schedule of events were discussed, as was the upcoming International Petroleum Technology Conference, taking place in Doha next month.
Sheikh Faisal welcomed ExxonMobil, Total, RasGas and Dolphin Energy representatives who just joined SPE Qatar board.
The SPE has more than 143,000 members in 147 countries participating in 199 sections and 337 university
chapters.
