Fahad al-Haddad is ‘Qatar’s Strongest Man’. Prevailing over seven other contestants, al-Haddad scored 88 points to win the competition organised by Aspire Zone Foundation on Friday. He had come second last year.

Rashed al-Fehaida won the second place with 87 points followed by Hadi al-Braidy with 84 points.

The event attracted a large number of spectators who cheered the competitors from 4pm to 8pm at Aspire Park.

A test of physical strength and endurance, the competition included lifting sandbags, deadlifting, truck-pulling, flipping giant tyres, and heavy weightlifting.

The other five participants were Talal al-Kuwari, Khamees al-Khulaifi, Abdullah Issa al-Banali, Fahad al-Meadeed and Thamer al-Kuwari.

All eight went through a series of strength tests and a screening process before they were selected for the actual competition.

Organisers of the event also engaged spectators in a number of fun games between breaks, giving away prizes to winners.

The competition attracted many families who were spending their weekend at the park.
